Seniors Week, Part 1

It's Seniors’ Week in Alberta, the perfect time to acknowledge and appreciate the many seniors who invest their time and energy into their communities.

I want to honour the late Jean Deslauriers, Past President of the Cumberland Oxford Community League. Jean worked tirelessly to build a strong community. As the community grew he helped to raise funds for, design and build green spaces, playgrounds and other shared places for all neighbourhood residents to enjoy. He took on jobs of all sizes, from collecting weekly mail, to managing storage of sports equipment, to organizing community events with over 1,000 in attendance, like Cumberland’s Annual Haunted Forest. All this without a community league building! Jean was a true community builder and the community is a better place to live because of his efforts.
